The Majilis Course, Overview

The Emirates Golf Club Majilis Course is a championship golf course designed by Karl Litten and opened in 1988, the course is known for its challenging layout and beautiful views of the Dubai skyline.

The course features 18 holes and covers a total distance of 7,301 yards from the back tees. The layout is characterized by splendid desert golf features; undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and numerous water hazards, which make it a challenging test for golfers of all levels, including for DP World Tour Players.

The course has hosted the DP World Tour’s Dubai Desert Classic tournament since its inception in 1989 and has welcomed some of the biggest names in golf into the winner’s circle, including Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, and Ernie Els.

In addition to the Majilis Course, the Emirates Golf Club also features a second championship course, the Faldo Course, which was designed by six-time Major winner Nick Faldo and opened in 1996.

The original 18 holes were as a result of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum donating the land on the (then) outskirts of the city of Dubai. What followed after the original development was nothing short of sensational.

The Golf Course

The course features 18 holes and is a long test from the tips. The layout is challenging and requires precision shots, with plenty of water hazards and strategically placed bunkers to keep players on their toes. The course is known for its undulating fairways, which add to the challenge of each shot. It’s the ultimate desert golf course and the desgin basis for many that followed in Dubai, and across the world. The greens, as nicely as they roll, are very (very) fast.

Facilities

In terms of golf practice facilities, the Emirates Golf Club Dubai offers a range of options to help golfers of all levels improve their game. There is a large driving range that features 32 hitting bays, as well as a short game area with a putting green, chipping green, and bunker practice area.

When it comes to dining, the Emirates Golf Club Dubai offers a range of options to suit every taste and budget. There are several restaurants on site, including Carine, a contemporary Mediterranean restaurant that offers stunning views of the golf course, and Spike Bar, a casual restaurant that serves up hearty pub fare and cold drinks.

The Emirates Golf Club is located in the heart of Dubai, specifically in the neighborhood of Emirates Hills, which is situated in the western part of the city.

The club is located along Sheikh Zayed Road, one of the major highways in Dubai, which provides easy access for residents and tourists alike. The club is approximately a 25-minute drive from Dubai International Airport and a 20-minute drive from downtown Dubai.
